Charles Marsh, Ngati Wahiao, Tuhourangi.
"My journey began in the small town of Dannevirke [Manawatu] where as a young man I began my love of Maori art. As an artist my background includes and began through Whakairo, tattooing and painting with acrylics and enamel. It was through the arts that I learnt more about my iwi and the tikanga associated with Whakairo.
I left my art for a while and joined a shearing gang. However, as a result of a shearing accident I have found my way back to the arts and I am now pursuing a pounamu career.
I am very passionate about pounamu carving and hope to make this a new career move for myself and family."
