Dawn Clayden is an Auckland based ceramist.
Her work draws upon traditional hand-making skills, sculpting and mould making combined with her love of design and craft. She is known for her intricate and masterful porcelain vases with cascading flowers, sculptures and tableware that are detailed with real gold. Each piece she makes is one off and unique. Once made and dried the porcelain pieces go through a series of 3 kiln firings, 1st bisque, 2nd glaze and 3rd gold application these firing processes take over a week to complete.
Dawn graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Design (3D object design) in April 2014. She then gained a Master of Design by Project from Unitec. Prior and during studying she worked for Morris & James Pottery.
