Te Arawa te waka, Te Arawa te iwi.
"Weaving has been part of my life for many years. I love weaving and passing on the knowledge I have to people keen to learn. I was lucky enough to have been taught by many different kuia, but acknowledge those closest to me, being my mother, Emily Schuster, and my twin sister Dawn Schuster - Smith.
The exchange of indigenous cultures similar to ours is very interesting, and recognising the similarities yet differences is rewarding. Working at New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute in Rotorua allows me to work with tauira on a scholarship and meet many visitors from around the world. Being part of the National weavers, Te Roopu Raranga O Aotearoa and our local weavers Te Roopu Raranga Ki Rotorua also keeps my hands and mind busy weaving."
