Ema Scott opened her studio “Stonepeace” (K?hatu H?m?rie) in Haumoana, Hawkes Bay, in 1999.
Ema is of Maori and Pakeha (Irish and Scottish) descent. Her iwi are Te Arawa, Ngati Whakaue, Te Ati Awa and Ngati Raukawa.
She views her work as a tangible expression of an unbroken chain of creativity linking through her parents to her Tipuna (ancestors) and ultimately to the source of all creation. Ema finds inspiration in her spiritual connection to the past - “Design is by descent”.
