Born in Auckland in 1969, Kirsty Nixon began painting and exhibiting in the late 1980s as a successful watercolour artist. In 1994 Kirsty began capturing the vibrant personality of the New Zealand landscape on canvas with acrylics. This style was greatly received and prompted Kirsty to leave her career as an art director in advertising to become a full-time professional artist.
Her contribution to the New Zealand landscape is fresh and distinctly modern. Her imagery "is based a lot on viewing through native plant life onto a scene, almost as if we pulled back the leaves and were just within reach of our unique coastline or dramatic rolling hills."
Kirsty currently lives in Auckland with her husband and two children.
