"For my whole life I have been intrigued by design, constantly shaping and creating art from whatever materials I could lay my hands on. My graduation from the Wellington School of Design in 1978 further fed this desire of bringing my creativity into reality. In recent years I discovered the wonderful material that is New Zealand Amber or, as it is more commonly known, Kauri Gum. The materials beautiful hues and unique ability to capture time within its amber droplets had me enthralled from my first encounter.
My creative mind often keeps me up at night, internalising countless designs that usually draw me out of bed in the early hours of the morning to my isolated studio. Hours will pass me by without notice as I toil away, so intrigued by what I am creating that on many occasions it has only been the sinking of the sun that draws me back to my house."
