Recurring symbols are talismans in Penelope's work. Among them the rose is used as a symbol for woman, love, beauty or memorial; the cross for is a quiet contemplation, stillness, death or clean start (in her work it is not used as a religious symbol), the heart represents both simple and complex paradox; it is not necessarily for romance; more about being a gift from the heart. Botanical elements are also inspirational.
Since 1992 she has worked solidly as a jewellery maker. Apart from her work, other interests include travel, spear fishing, horses, martial studies (2nd degree black belt), photography, gardening and yoga.
Penelope's work is held in collections by the Auckland Museum and Dowse Art Museum.
