Cathy Brickhill

 

Cathy Brickhill is an Auckland based 3D sculpture embroidery artist. Cathy creates delicate stitched forms with machine embroidery through hours of sewing, building up networks of stitched layers that are then sculpted into textile art forms. Cathy studied Fashion at Unitec focusing on pattern making and garment construction / tailoring. 

Cathy has received a number of awards for her work, such as the 2018 Corban Arts’ Estate People’s Choice. She also won 2nd place and received a gold award at the 2024 Christchurch Art Show and 1st place at the 2024 Auckland Art Show.

Cathy draws inspiration from New Zealand flora and fauna. Due to the way the art is created, no two pieces are ever identical giving each piece its own unique quality.
