Ngāti Whakaue & Ngāti Raukawa

Mat Scott is a multidisciplinary Sculptor based in Auckland. Mat is of Māori, Irish & Scottish descent. The Scott family has a rich history with their Whakapapa (genealogy) & Iwi (tribe) with connections to Ngāti Whakaue & Ngāti Raukawa. Mat Scott comes from an intergenerational family of Designers & Artists; Mat's creative work reflects his connection to his family, as well as, an interpretation of the environment in which surrounds him.

Mat Scott graduated from the Wellington School of Design in 1991, his creativity & aptitude for Design has evolved over the past two decades. Mat has explored multiple creative avenues - producing landscape & interior stone sculptures, abstract acrylic paintings & carving feathers & shells from native New Zealand timbers.

Mat's body of work continues to evolve & grow whilst being widely collected by both national & international Art Collectors.
